Becoming a more resillient business owner
Mindset is everything. When I speak about marketing, so much of that conversation revolves around the challenges of being a business owner in the digital age. How can you as that leader be more resilient, faster, stronger, and all the other good qualities that make up a leader. I’ve learned that most of that battle is all in my head – it has to do with how I perceive a situation.
Being an entrepreneur or business owner means facing challenges that you can’t predict or imagine. Your mindset on those situations can either strengthen you or make you feel defeated. So how does a person do this?
- Looking at that challenge as a learning experience
- Focusing on positives that can come out of any situation
- Learning how to prevent future challenges
Example: We give digital marketing consultations on a daily basis. I love speaking – it’s where I draw energy and confidence for my business. When I have a bad consultation, were someone is rude or disrespectful, it can be really defeating and frustrating. It can change my whole mindset for the day.
How do I channel away from this negative energy? I try to look at what I can learn from that frustrating consultation. How could I have better responses to negative comments? Is there a way that I could be more educational in a way that client could use? Am I ignoring red flags and what should I do about them? My final step in processing a negative experience like that is to write about it – I write what can I learn and what can other business owners learn because of this experience as well.
It’s all about how I put a positive spin on those experiences. And that makes me more resilient as a business owner!
